Small Expressions 2023
Small Expressions 2023, presented by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA) is an annual juried exhibit of small scale fiber art not exceeding fifteen inches in any direction. The exhibit is on show through September 3, 2023, at the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, Washington, with additional locations through May 2024.

The 2023 exhibit is juried, by Allyce Wood, a textile artist based in Seattle, Washington, who creates work on a vintage Bergman floor loom, Scandinavian frame looms, a marudai, and a knitting machine. Wood’s education and career includes a master’s degree from Oslo National Academy of the Arts; studies at the KUNO Digital Jacquard Tapestry program at the University of Bergen; a mentorship with Hilde Hauan Johnsen, and assisting artists Eline Mugaas and Elise Storsveen; and artist residencies at the Praxis Fiber Workshop (Cleveland, Ohio), the Icelandic Textile Center, and Mary Olson Farm.
